Unterzeichnung des Städtepartnerschaftsvertrages

Official Delegation from the State Capital Magdeburg in Nashville.
An official delegation from the city of Magdeburg headed by Mayor Dr. Lutz Trümper visited Nashville from May 24 through 29. The highlight of the visit was the signing of the Sister Cities agreement on May 28, 2003.
Dr. Uwe Küster, MdB, Chair of the German-American Dialog Center Magdeburg e.V. said: “Today is a day of historic significance. With today’s signing of the agreement, the sister city relationship between Magdeburg and Nashville, which the residents of both cities have eagerly awaited and strongly supported in its development, will become an important symbol of German-American solidarity.
I am very pleased about the varied and creative involvement of many Magdeburg residents in the sister city relationship and I would like to remember to mention the German-American Dialog Center’s constant and professional work, which played a leading role in getting this sister city relationship going.
This partnership will enrich both our cities in many different respects. If the residents of Magdeburg and Nashville are prepared to give this undertaking their very personal stamp, nothing can stand in the way of a vital and multifaceted dialog. An initial successful example is the school student exchange, which will already be taking place this summer and which it is essential to keep developing.”
