Bob Bogen is one of the "spiritual fathers" of the Magdeburg-Nashville Sister Cities relationship. On October 15, 2002 he presented a resolution to enter a Sister Cities relationship with Magdeburg to the Nashville city council, which resolved to do so on the same day.
Bob Bogen is an avowed fan of Otto von Guericke. This is Bob's fourth stay in Magdeburg.
As of October 2004 he will be taking a course "German as a Foreign Language" for two semesters at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg in order to deepen his already excellent German language skills. Bob has been learning German since 1941 when his ninth grade teacher told him he should learn the language.
He will also be teaching an English course for students at the Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences.
