Exhibition “Evolution of a Friendship”
On the initiative by the German-American Dialog Center and the Bundeswehr’s 82nd District Defense Headquarters, the exhibition “Evolution of a Friendship” will be presented to the residents of Magdeburg. The exhibition will be officially opened in the presence of Dr. Uwe Küster (Chair of the German-American Dialog Center) and Colonel Ulrich C. Kleyser (Commander of the 82nd District Defense Headquarters) on Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at 11 a.m. in Allee-Center Magdeburg, Ernst-Reuter-Allee.
The exhibition can be viewed from June 23 through July 3, 2004 on the ground floor of the Allee-Center during regular business hours (Mondays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.). “Evolution of a Friendship” is an exhibition from the Bundeswehr’s Military History Research Institute in Potsdam and documents selected events testifying to GERMAN-AMERICAN RELATIONSHIPS. From 1507 (first cartographic representation of the American continent rediscovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492) to 1995 (withdrawal of the last American troops from Berlin), over 40 image and text panels strikingly document GERMAN-AMERICAN RELATIONSHIPS. Among other individuals, Baron Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben born in Magdeburg on September 17, 1730 will be accorded a central role in the exhibition. For more information, call the82nd District Defense Headquarters at (0391) 73889-383.
While the exhibition is going on, the Dialog Center will have an info stand there. Of course it’s not possible to keep the stand open the entire time but it would be good when we could show a presence from time to time.
